A lot of people who post this stuff are not doctors. And they will post something that perhaps worked for them. It doesn’t work for everyone. If your dehydrated drink more water, a lot, but always err on the side of caution. Ask you doctor, Eat more fiber, have a healthier lifestyle. And if you need to poop in 2min then you have a medical problem see a doctor.

I was confused by this also Pam. I don’t know if you’re suppose to drain the dates and plums from the water after they’ve stewed or blend them with the heated water and drink it? If anyone could please clarify that I would appreciate it.

      • Hussain

        April 25, 2017 at 8:25 pm

You don’t drain the dates and plumes, you are supposed to use the mixture i-e water+dates+plums.. Hope there is no confusion anymore!

Just to clarify that this recipe is using dry plums and dates or the fresh ones? Thank you!

    • Hussain

      April 25, 2017 at 8:22 am

The recipe uses dry plums (available around the year) and fresh dates, fresh dates simply means ones which still contain moisture, they are soft. Dates are usually kept fresh for over 8 months to a year.

          April 27, 2018 at 10:00 pm

NO they are not. Prunes are of the same family as plums but much smaller and have a distinctly different taste they are predominately sweeter. They make a wonderful Jam as do plums but the taste as said before is quite different.
I grow both Prunes and Plums so if the recipe says plums do not use prunes it will alter the taste and outcome.

Why are y’all going on about prunes they are not even mentioned in the recipie

    • Fran

      March 22, 2018 at 10:34 am

Because Hussain refered to “dry plums” in the comments. You may not have seen this? He meant fresh plums as the recipe states, I think. The confusion arose between dried plums (ie prunes) and fresh plums. That comment conrtadicted the recipe depending on your colloquial names for certain fruits.

      • Blog Admin

        March 22, 2018 at 10:37 am

I believe, he meant dry plums (i.e. prunes) and not the fresh plums. Hope that clarifies.

The mixture we have for you today is a powerful natural laxative that you can easily prepare at home. It contains prunes, a fruit rich in fiber that will improve your digestion and treat problems such as constipation. Here’s how to prepare it:

    150 gr. of dates
    150 gr. of prunes

    5 cups of boiled water
Bring the water to a boil, then add chopped dates and prunes and simmer the mixture for 10-15 minutes. Leave it to cool down afterwards and then you can start consuming it. Take a tablespoon of the remedy on an empty stomach in the morning. You can have it alone or mixed with yogurt or cereal.
Another great way to treat constipation is to put a few plums in water and leave them to soak overnight, then consume them in the morning.

I was confused because you used grams and not cups. I was trying to find the conversion. In the process I came across this blog and became more confused because people were saying you meant prunes not plums. Then they were saying prunes were not dried plums. Wow! That confused me more. Then I saw the recipe again on the blog. And someone said to use 14 of each. So now, this is what I am sure about: use 14 dates cut up, use 14 dried plums (or prunes) not sure which. I’m in California and I’ve always thought dried plums were prunes, but someone said prunes are sweeter than dried plums. So I guess I’ll have to do some more research on the internet to figure that out. Unless you can enlighten me. The people who are amused and surprised at how we can get such a simple recipe confused don’t understand the nuances of language. Many countries have different names for the same thing. Yet many countries mean different things. Also, the United States has not converted to the metric system so when a recipe is given only in metric we Americans have to turn to the internet to convert it. The conversion is not always the same it depends on what the ingredient is. i.e. flour measures differently than dates. So, bottom line are prunes the same as dried plums?
